John M. Smyth 'Commander' Dresser/Sideboard

John M. Smyth 'Commander' Dresser/Sideboard. John M. Smyth sold furniture in Chicago for 127 years eventually ceding control to Levitz, the same company it drove from the Chicago market in the early 80s. Made of solid Cherry; no veneers or particle board in this substantial cabinet. With a name like Commander, I think that this cabinet was originally an upright mans dresser. It could easily be re-purposed as a sideboard/hutch. 4 dovetailed drawers with wood under-pull handles. Top drawer has multiple dividers (socks or flatware). Caned sliding doors reveal two compartments with single shelf on left side. Sculpted arch on angled legs.
